You can restrict access to certain directories on your server from being accessed by requiring users to log in with a user name and password. In order to password protect a directory:
• Log into your cPanel
• Once logged into your cPanel, click on the “Protected Directories” icon
• Select the folder (directory) that you wish to password protect
• Give the protected area a name indicative as to why the folder is protected (e.g. “Member Area”) and click “Save”
• Click the “Go Back” link
• Specify the “Username” and “Password” for the user to have access to this area
• Click “Add/modify authorized user”
• You can delete users by highlighting the user name and pressing the “Delete User” button
Important Note: You can add and remove as many users as you’d like. To modify an existing user, simply type the existing user name into the “Username” field and specify the new password.
