An email alias or redirect will allow you to automatically forward messages that come to one email address to a different account.

Instructions

  1. Log into your Control Panel.
  2. In the left menu, click on Mail.

  3. In the list of email addresses, locate your account. Click on it.

You now have two options. If you want to forward mailfrom other accounts to this account, you should create an Alias. Or, if you want to forward mail from this account to a different email address, you should create a Redirect.

An alias will forward messages from a different email address to this account.

  1. Go to the settings for your email account.
  2. Click on Add New Email Alias. domain_main_alias
  3. Enter the email address that you want to set up to forward email to this account in the Mail alias name field. domain_mail_alias_details
  4. Click OK.

Emails that are sent to this email address will be forwarded to your account.

Note: You cannot make an alias of a pre-existing email address. If you want to make a particular account stop receiving messages and instead become an alias, you will have to delete it first (caution - this will delete old messages from this account's mailbox).

Create a Redirect

A redirect will forward messages from this account to a different account. By default, a copy will still be delivered to this account, too.

  1. Go to the settings for your email account.
  2. Click on Redirect. domain_mail_redirect
  3. Check Redirect.
  4. In  Redirect address, enter the name of the new email address that you want to receive a copy of your messages, then click OK. domain_mail_redirect_details

A copy of every message that this account receives will now be sent to the address you entered in Step 4.

Tip: If you do not want to keep a copy of the message on the server, you can turn off the mailbox for this account.

Turn Off Mailbox

Turning off your mailbox will prevent any messages from being stored on the server. You might want to do this if you have set up a redirect for your email address.

  1. Go to the settings for your email account.
  2. Click Mailbox. plesk_mail_mailbox
  3. Uncheck the Mailbox option. plesk_mail_mailbox_off
  4. Click OK.

This account will no longer have an inbox on the server.
